I had an excellent morning out with four fellow fishermen who are now totally convinced that Slam are the baits to have.
All fish were caught on three inch minnows, Nuclear Roosters and Speckled Pumpkin.
We were fishing in the Rangitoto channel, using 10-gram 3/0 jig heads.

The fish were playing hard earlier in the weekend.
I found the three-inch minnows were working the best, using a 3/0 ten-gram Jigstar jig head with twelve-pound mono. Tuna Flesh and Speckled Pumpkin were working well.
All the fish were taken on the drop and they were very sensitive takes. You will see by the photos that we ended up with a reasonable catch but it was hard work.
I also had a lot of fun with my son soft baiting with Slams in the upper harbour yesterday using the same method above.
We had set a net for flounder and in the two hours waiting for the tide, we caught heaps of small snapper.
Nothing really worth keeping but it was a lot of fun and proves that the product works in yet another scenario.
